Tension has gripped communities in the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State following a late-night attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, during which the Vice Principal was killed and several students were abducted.

Residents said the assailants stormed the school under the cover of darkness, leaving fear and confusion in their wake.

The Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, reportedly lost his life while trying to protect the students.

The exact number of students taken during the invasion remains uncertain, as authorities have yet to provide an official account of the incident.

A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, described the attack as devastating, noting that the community had been thrown into mourning and anxiety. “It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has plunged the entire area into fear,” she said.

Locals have continued to pay tribute to the slain Vice Principal, whom they hailed as a committed educator dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of his students.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not issued a formal statement. Residents are calling on both the state and federal governments to act swiftly to secure the release of the abducted students and bolster security in schools and other vulnerable communities across the region.
