Operatives of the “B” Division Surveillance Team in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, have recovered a tricycle and two locally fabricated double-barrel guns after a high-speed chase involving unidentified suspects.
The patrol team, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Josephine Ekebuike, was conducting routine surveillance along Arubayi Street by Polokor Market on November 16 when the officers observed a tricyclist conveying two passengers while driving recklessly against traffic.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspicious movement immediately prompted the officers to engage the tricycle in a pursuit.
According to him, the chase continued into First Marine Quarters, where the rider and his passengers abruptly abandoned the tricycle and fled through adjoining streets.
A search of the recovered tricycle reportedly led to the discovery of two locally made double-barrel guns, nine assorted mobile phones, four power banks and a screwdriver.
Edafe added that the area had since been cordoned off as officers intensified stop-and-search operations to track down the fleeing suspects.
