The Delta State Police Command has arrested a prison escapee in connection with the murder of Christabel Egedefe, a 26-year-old woman, at Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, said the suspect had broken into the victim’s house on October 23, 2025, and killed her after she refused to surrender her motorcycle keys.
The assailant also stole her mobile phones during the robbery.
Edafe stated that the suspect revealed he had escaped from Oko Correctional Centre during the End SARS 2020 jailbreak.
“The Divisional Police Officer of Agbor received a complaint on October 24, 2025, that the suspect was attempting to sell a stolen phone. Operatives were immediately deployed, leading to his arrest,” Edafe said.
During interrogation, the suspect initially claimed he had acquired the phone from Libya and tried to implicate the victim’s father in the crime.
He later admitted to killing Christabel during the robbery.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect is a serial offender and was allegedly part of the syndicate that raped and murdered Uwaila Omorzua, a 200-level UNIBEN student, in 2020.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
