The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the violent attack on a 25-year-old Point of Sale operator, Akwarakiram Abel, in the Ngurore community of Yola South Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command said the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when a group of armed assailants invaded the victim’s residence in the Sabon Pegi area.
The attackers, said to be wielding dangerous weapons, reportedly broke into Abel’s home between 3am and 4am, assaulted him, and carted away his belongings.
The PPRO disclosed that the hoodlums inflicted severe injuries on the victim, including a cutlass wound that resulted in the amputation of one of his hands.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, ordered operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department to commence a comprehensive probe aimed at apprehending the culprits and uncovering the motive behind the attack.
Morris assured residents that the Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, adding that those responsible for the crime would be brought to justice.
