A pall of shock has descended on Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the discovery of a young woman’s body in a popular hotel along the Ore–Okitipupa Road.
The unidentified lady was found dead late afternoon on Tuesday after hotel attendants forced their way into the room when repeated knocks received no response.
The development immediately triggered panic within the facility, which is widely patronised by travellers and residents.
Hotel workers, who had earlier seen the lady in the company of a man said to be her friend, reportedly met her lying lifeless on the bed with no visible marks suggesting violence.
A source told our correspondent that the deceased had checked into the hotel with a man identified as Sodiq Ganiyu, reportedly to spend the night.
“The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when staff gained access to the room, the lady was found unresponsive,” the source said.
Ganiyu was said to have fled moments after the incident came to light, sparking concerns as security operatives began efforts to track him.
A security source, who confirmed the development, said the lady’s body has been deposited at the Ore morgue.
Preliminary checks revealed no external injuries, but investigators have scheduled an autopsy to ascertain the actual cause of death as police widen their probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
