Security operatives have apprehended four suspected kidnappers believed to be connected to the abduction of ten villagers along the Koso Likoro–Soba axis in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The arrest was disclosed on Friday through a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who reported that the suspects were tracked to a hideout around the Ibbi Forest.
A combined team of operatives subsequently stormed the enclave, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Sanda Dan, Mallam Wantau and Atiku.
Makama said preliminary investigation revealed that the men confessed to involvement in recent attacks and listed other members of their syndicate.
Those named include Buba Maiyara, Mantile Alh. Majo and Bilya Musa Baushe, all said to be residents of Koso village.
He added that a follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of Manu Malami Shehu Maiyara, who admitted that his son, Buba Maiyara, and others were part of the group responsible for the kidnappings and cattle rustling in the area.
According to him, the matter remains under investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle the wider network of criminals operating in the Mashegu axis.
