Armed bandits launched a string of coordinated assaults across Zamfara State, leaving one resident dead and scores abducted in fresh attacks on communities in Zurmi and Bungudu local government areas.

Details of the incursions were shared on Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, outlining a troubling escalation of violence in the state.

According to the account, the first incident occurred at about 10:40 p.m. on November 30, when bandits stormed Tungar Tsamiya village in the Moriki District of Zurmi LGA.

“They shot dead one resident and abducted 10 others. Security forces launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims,” Makama wrote.

Hours later, another armed group reportedly infiltrated the Doguwar Gona forest in the same district, kidnapping 17 men and women who were out gathering firewood. Security personnel have since mounted a pursuit of the attackers in an effort to free the captives.

In a separate raid in Bungudu LGA, gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles invaded Makwa village in Kurar Mota District around 12:15 p.m. on December 1 and abducted an unspecified number of residents.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police operatives and local vigilantes, have intensified rescue operations and deployed additional patrols to stabilise the affected areas.

Search efforts were still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
