A disturbing video circulating on Tuesday has stirred widespread anger after a group of secondary school students, still dressed in their uniforms, were captured engaging in a violent street clash in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The footage, which has sparked conversations about the steady decline in discipline among adolescents and the weakening grip of parental guidance, shows students from at least three public schools taking a simmering rivalry out of the school premises and into the open streets.
Witnesses recorded the teenagers, clad in different school colours, charging at one another, chasing themselves across the road and exchanging blows as stunned residents watched from a safe distance.
Posting the clip on X, Oyo Affairs wrote,
“Public secondary school students from Olubi Memorial Grammar School, Community High School, and Ibadan Grammar caught on camera fighting. Govt needs to do something fast!!!”
Though the immediate cause of the confrontation remains uncertain, the incident has reignited concerns over the rise in youth violence, the erosion of discipline, and the gradual infiltration of cult-like confrontations among secondary school students in parts of the country.
Authorities in Oyo State have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
