…Reaffirms Support for Local Government Administration
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commissioned a newly renovated event center and a block of classrooms executed by the Ondo West Local Government Area, describing the projects as a practical demonstration of the value of local government autonomy.
Speaking at the inauguration on Monday, the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, reiterated the strategic importance of local government administration as the tier of government closest to the grassroots.
He noted that the renovation of the facilities reflects the developmental potential of empowered and functional local councils.
“This event centre, christened ‘The Lucky Event Centre’ is undoubtedly an economic and social asset. It will serve as a hub for conferences, community engagements, commercial activities and various social events. Beyond its utility, it will also generate revenue for Ondo West Local Government,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He added that the renovated block of classrooms at the premises of the Ondo West Local Government Secondary School goes beyond physical infrastructure, describing it as “a learning and incubation centre designed to prepare pupils with the knowledge, discipline and skills required in today’s world.”
The governor commended the Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Hon. Ayotunde Akinfolarin, for his developmental strides, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pro-people policies that will positively impact residents across the 18 local government areas of the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Akinfolarin said the event centre was named in honour of Governor Aiyedatiwa in recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedication to strengthening local government administration.
He further explained that the renovation of the classroom block at premises of the Ondo West Local Government Secondary School was part of a deliberate effort to sustain quality education in the area.
Delivering his goodwill message, Member representing Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Abiola Makinde, lauded the council chairman for initiating projects with direct impact on citizens.
Hon. Makinde, whose tenure as chairman of Ondo West between 2013 and 2015 witnessed tremendous transformation in grassroot governance, including the construction of the now-renovated classroom block, highlighted the significance of continuity, grassroots development and purposeful leadership.
The event attracted dignitaries, including the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo; former Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Jibayo Adeyeye; and Chairman of Ondo Southwest LCDA, Mr. Felix Akinola, among others.
