The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered stolen cattle and weapons following a brutal attack on a ranch in Okeigbo.
According to the Command, Abdullahi, the ranch owner, reported that armed men stormed his cattle ranch in a commando-like operation, rustling his livestock.
In their bid to stop the assailants, Abdullahi and his son were attacked with machetes, prompting an urgent call for police intervention.
Acting swiftly, operatives deployed intelligence-led policing and tactical response measures, leveraging available technology to track the fleeing suspects.
Their efforts led to the recovery of the stolen cattle, the vehicle used in the attack, the complainant’s stolen motorcycle, and the weapons employed by the attackers.
The vehicle was traced and recovered in Ondo City by officers from the Okeigbo Divisional Headquarters.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional response, describing it as a testament to the Command’s enhanced capacity for proactive crime prevention and rapid intervention.
CP Lawal assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, especially during the festive period. He directed all divisional police officers and tactical commanders to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure comprehensive security coverage across the state.
The Police Command also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his reforms and technological initiatives, which have strengthened policing efficiency in Ondo State.
