The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced fresh compulsory requirements for all business name online update applications, a move aimed at strengthening its verification procedures and improving the accuracy of registered records.
The new directive, released on Wednesday via the commission’s official X handle, mandates applicants to provide additional personal and contact details before their requests can be processed.
“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.
The commission noted that the revised requirements form part of its ongoing reforms to enhance documentation integrity, curb potential fraud, and ensure smoother communication with business owners.
By enforcing the additional data fields, the CAC expects to streamline its database, simplify compliance verification, and deliver more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.
The commission urged all business proprietors to adhere to the updated guidelines to avoid delays in the processing of their applications.
The CAC, Nigeria’s statutory body for the registration and regulation of companies and business names, has in recent years intensified its digital transformation drive, transitioning from manual procedures to robust online systems to improve service delivery across the country.
