Residents of Sheka Sabuwar Ganduje community in Kano Suburb were thrown into panic on Saturday night after unknown assailants reportedly broke into a house and killed a pregnant woman and her 18-month-old son.
The grim discovery was said to have been made by the husband of the deceased woman, who returned from work at about 8pm to find the house locked.
It was gathered that he forced his way into the house, where he reportedly found his wife and their son lying lifeless, their bodies burnt after they were allegedly killed.
Confirming the incident, a community leader, Ahmad Sani, lamented the worsening security situation in the area, alleging that despite the construction of a police outpost, authorities had failed to deploy personnel to the community.
He appealed to the Commissioner of Police, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to urgently intervene and restore security.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, declined comment, saying the police were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
