Security forces in Kano State have intensified operations to track down suspected armed bandits following the abduction of four persons in Karaye Local Government Area.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred at about 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday when no fewer than eight gunmen, suspected to be bandits and armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed Adama village in Karaye LGA.
Security sources said the assailants abducted four members of the Alhaji Boyi Adama family.
The victims were identified as Aliyu Bello, Sani Bello, Razika Aliyu Bello and Shu’aibu Salisu.
“Upon receipt of the report from a good Samaritan, Joint Task Force teams were swiftly deployed to the scene on a rescue mission,” one of the sources said.
However, the attackers were said to have escaped before the arrival of security operatives.
An empty 7.62mm ammunition shell was recovered at the scene, as security agencies intensified efforts to rescue the abducted persons unhurt and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Authorities assured residents that sustained security operations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible and restore calm to the affected community.
Bandit attacks have in recent times escalated in parts of Kano State, especially in communities bordering Kano and Katsina states.
