Residents of Agaie town in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State were thrown into shock on Sunday following the discovery of the lifeless body of a young boy inside a parked vehicle near the busy Agaie market.
The grim find sparked fear and confusion in the community, as residents struggled to comprehend the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
Many gathered at the scene as news of the incident spread, heightening anxiety and speculation.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle had been parked in the area for several hours before the discovery, drawing a crowd and fuelling questions about how the boy ended up inside the car.
Capturing the growing unease, one of the residents said, “People are wondering if he was murdered or died inside the vehicle. No one here knows who he is”..
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun said on December 14, 2025 at about 8pm, report received indicated that one Ibrahim of Fuyaka village via Katcha parked his Toyota Corolla vehicle with Reg. no. RBC 439 BM around Agaie market at about 9am.
He explained that when Ibrahim was about to leave the market at about 6pm, he opened the vehicle and unfortunately, he found a corpse of about a 10 year old in the vehicle.
According to him, ” The corpse was later identified as Haji Abubakar of Edoko village via Agaie, and the body was evacuated to the hospita”l.
However, he further revealed that the vehicle owner has been invited and interrogated for negligence as further investigation is ongoing.
