Troops of the Nigerian Army have disrupted a suspected logistics supply chain for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) with the interception of two pickup vans in Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on Friday via his X handle, noting that the operation was intelligence-led.

According to him, actionable human intelligence had pointed to the movement of the consignments from Dapchi through the Magumeri axis of the state.

Troops of Sector 2, operating in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), were said to have mounted a stop-and-search operation along the route, leading to the arrest of the drivers of the intercepted vehicles. The suspects are currently being interrogated.

Items recovered from the vehicles include 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour and a mattress.
Other seized materials comprise five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, nylon bags containing garri, adult and children’s clothing, a power bank, six mobile phones and N92,600 in cash.

Makama added that both the vehicles and recovered items are in military custody, while investigations continue to determine the suspects’ level of involvement and possible links to ISWAP’s logistics network.

He said the troops reaffirmed their resolve to block supply routes to terrorist groups and sustain operational pressure on criminal elements within their area of responsibility.
