The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has projected predominantly sunny weather with hazy conditions across the country from Sunday to Tuesday.

In its outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, the agency said the northern states would experience clear and sunny skies throughout the period, while hazy atmospheric conditions are expected to prevail over the North-Central zone.

NiMet also forecast localised morning thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over parts of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states on Sunday. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected in Rivers, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa.

For Monday, the agency predicted sustained sunshine in the North and continued haziness over the North-Central region.

Southern states are expected to record cloudy conditions in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

According to NiMet, sunny and hazy conditions will persist in the northern and North-Central regions on Tuesday, while the South will witness morning cloudiness followed by isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall.

The agency advised residents, particularly those with respiratory challenges, to take necessary precautions as dust particles remain suspended in the atmosphere.

Motorists were also cautioned to be careful during rainfall.
Airline operators were urged to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning, while members of the public were encouraged to stay informed through the agency’s official weather updates.
