A 25-year-old man, Maina Jano, has died after he was attacked at a traditional turbaning ceremony in Yobe State.
The incident was made public by counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
The attack occurred at the Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area, where residents had gathered for the event.
Quoting Makama’s post, he wrote: “A 25-year-old man, Maina Jano, has died after being attacked during a turbaning ceremony at Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.”
Makama said the violence broke out late at night while youths were engaged in activities marking the turbaning of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.
He said Jano, who was from Nassara Fulani settlement in Kumaganam, Yusufari Local Government Area, was allegedly attacked by an unidentified person during the ceremony.
The victim reportedly sustained severe internal injuries and was taken to the General Hospital in Kumaganam, where he was later confirmed dead.
Makama wrote: “Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred at about 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2025, while youths were engaged in a Shadi competition during the ceremony of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.
“According to the sources, Jano, a resident of Nassara Fulani settlement, Kumaganam, Yusufari LGA, was attacked and beaten by an unidentified man, sustaining serious internal injuries. He was rushed to the General Hospital, Kumaganam, for medical attention but later succumbed to his injuries.”
