Suspected ISWAP fighters launched predawn raids on Ja Jibiri and Ladu villages in Yobe State on December 27, leaving a village head wounded, a driver in captivity and a primary health-care centre ransacked.
The attacks, disclosed by counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, occurred at about 12:20 a.m., security sources told Makama.
During the first assault in Ja Jibiri, the village head, Lawan Hassan, 45, sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. He was evacuated to Geidam General Hospital for treatment.
The assailants later moved to neighbouring Ladu where they abducted a 40-year-old driver, identified as Madu Kura, who was driving a Toyota Hilux. Gunmen also forced entry into the community’s Primary Health Care Medical Centre, carting away medical consumables, other items and a Volkswagen Golf vehicle.
Security operatives have been placed on high alert across the area as authorities intensify efforts to track the attackers and secure the release of the abducted driver. Investigations are ongoing.
