The competition, organized under the leadership of FOSU President, Comrade Abu Sherif Gbenga, continues to serve as a platform for nurturing academic excellence and intellectual capacity among Ogbagi students.
This year’s edition, described as highly competitive and intellectually engaging, provided participants the opportunity to demonstrate creativity, analytical ability, and critical thinking skills. Although the competition commenced earlier, the award presentation ceremony was held yesterday and personally conducted by the sponsor of the initiative, Honourable Thalis Olonite Apalowo.
Prizes were presented to the top three winners as follows:
• 1st place: Opeyemi Dorcas
• 2nd place: Arogundade Precious
• 3rd place: Waliyat Abdulrasheed
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Thalis Olonite Apalowo reaffirmed his commitment to education and youth empowerment. He noted that sustainable development is rooted in knowledge-driven societies, saying:
“Education remains the strongest foundation for sustainable development. When we invest in our students today, we are securing a better and more responsible future for our society.”
President of FOSU, Comrade Abu Sherif Gbenga, commended the sponsor for his consistency and dedication to youth development, describing the competition as a life-shaping intervention rather than a one-off event.
“Honourable Thalis Olonite Apalowo has continually demonstrated genuine commitment to the growth and preparedness of Ogbagi youths. This initiative goes beyond an essay competition; it is a deliberate investment in the future of our students,” he said.
The Thalis Olonite Apalowo Essay Competition has continued to inspire students toward academic distinction, leadership development, and intellectual readiness. The initiative is widely regarded within the community as a model for encouraging young people to aspire toward excellence.
FOSU, on behalf of the beneficiaries and student community, expressed appreciation to Hon. Thalis Olonite Apalowo and wished him continued strength and opportunity to further his contributions to education and youth development.
