The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a consignment of cement valued at about ₦18 million and arrested three suspects over its alleged diversion in Ibadan.
The development was made known in a statement on Saturday evening posted on X formerly, Twitter by the Command and sighted by PROMPTNEWS.
The suspects were picked up after intelligence reports led operatives of the Sanyo Division to Soka area of the state capital on December 31, 2025.
The information indicated that about 900 bags of cement, loaded in a Dangote-branded truck, had been diverted from their original destination.
Police sources said preliminary findings showed that the consignment, meant for delivery at Adewole area of Ilorin, Kwara State, was unlawfully sold in Ibadan.
Those arrested include the truck driver, Usman Jubril, 26, and two alleged receivers, Durodola Ifeoluwa, 29, and Nafisat Moruf, 31.
Following the arrest, the truck and the 900 bags of cement were recovered and taken to the police station for safekeeping.
Investigations, according to the command, confirmed that the goods were diverted from the intended consignee.
The suspects were said to have admitted their roles in the transaction and are currently in custody, assisting detectives.
Police said they would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, praised the timely intelligence and swift action of the officers involved.
He also acknowledged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for strengthening intelligence-led policing nationwide.
CP Haruna reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of property and the prosecution of offenders, urging residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
He assured the public of the police readiness to safeguard lives and property across the state.
