Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to investigate multiple sexual misconduct allegations leveled against Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries.
The order follows a surge of outrage over viral claims circulating on social media in recent days.
Reports indicate that Pastor Okafor voluntarily stepped aside from his pastoral duties on New Year’s Day as the allegations gained momentum.
Several women, including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, have come forward with claims against the cleric.
Last Sunday, the pastor publicly apologised to Ogala during a church service, kneeling on the pulpit to admit past “mistakes” and seek forgiveness.
The controversy gained further attention following Okafor’s wedding to a new bride, identified as Pearl, on December 16, 2025. The ceremony reportedly drew several high-profile clerics.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, had initially stated that no arrests could be made due to the absence of formal complaints from alleged victims.
However, after renewed inquiries from journalists, she confirmed that CP Jimoh had ordered SCID to summon Pastor Okafor for questioning and to invite alleged victims and witnesses for interviews.
“The CP has directed SCID to investigate the pastor, even though no formal petitions have been filed,” Adebisi said. “Witnesses will be called to provide statements to aid the investigation.”
Adebisi added that she had personally reached out to a YouTuber who interviewed some of the alleged victims to obtain direct leads for the police probe.
The allegations first surfaced on December 14, when actress Doris Ogala posted emotional videos on her Instagram page, accusing Pastor Okafor of a sexual relationship that reportedly began in 2017 and lasted nine years.
Ogala claimed the pastor repeatedly promised marriage but later married another woman in December 2025.
She also alleged that the cleric shared explicit photos and videos of her, contributed to the breakdown of her previous marriage, and caused financial and emotional distress.
Ogala further claimed that Pastor Okafor offered her $10,000 to retract her statements and implicated a rival pastor in orchestrating the allegations. She has since filed a N1 billion legal notice citing threats and intimidation.
As the scandal unfolded, other women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct, manipulation, infidelity, and related claims against the pastor.
Among them was his former wife, Bessem Okafor, who accused him of deception, infidelity, and physical assault.
Meanwhile, some church members have dismissed the allegations, describing them as attempts by individuals to extort money from their “man of God.”
