Anxiety gripped communities in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday following the reported abduction of a woman and her infant by suspected kidnappers.
The incident was said to have occurred along the Supare–Ayegunle axis, where the victims were intercepted and taken away by the assailants.
Sources said the woman, described as a nursing mother, was seized alongside her baby, triggering panic among residents of the area.
A community source, who requested anonymity, identified the woman’s husband as a well-known furniture maker based in Akungba.
“The husband is into furniture and is quite popular in Akungba. His wife was kidnapped together with their baby,” the source disclosed.
When Contacted for confirmation by The Hope, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh Kazeem, said the command had yet to verify the report.
“The information available to me for now is still sketchy, so I cannot confirm the incident at this time.
I will provide updates once we have clearer details,” he said.
