Renowned gospel singer and pastor, Donnie McClurkin, has dismissed as false allegations of sexual abuse levelled against him by a former aide in a lawsuit filed in New York.
The 66-year-old minister, through his legal counsel, refuted claims by Giuseppe Corletto, who alleged that McClurkin abused him over several years while serving as his employer and spiritual mentor.
According to reports, Corletto claimed the singer also admitted wrongdoing in an email said to date back to 2003, when he sought guidance on reconciling his faith and sexuality.
In a response posted on his official Instagram page, McClurkin described the accusations as fabricated and insisted that they do not reflect his character or ministry.
“With all humility, faith and deep respect for Christ and the global gospel community, I want to state clearly and unequivocally that these allegations are contrived and untrue,” he wrote.
He added that while genuine victims of abuse deserve empathy and protection, the claims brought against him “are completely false.”
The Stand and Great Is Your Mercy singer also urged fans and supporters to pray for all parties involved, including his accuser, as legal proceedings unfold.
The lawsuit was filed last Friday at the Manhattan State Supreme Court, where both sides are expected to make their case as the matter progresses.
