Suspected bandits on Sunday night stormed Unguwar Nagunda in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing two residents and abducting many others during a wedding procession.

The gunmen were said to have struck as a convoy accompanying a newly wedded couple returned from Mabai, a nearby community under the same council.

A security analyst known as Bakatsine, who shared details of the assault on X on Monday, revealed that several persons sustained injuries in the raid, including the bride.

He noted that families were still unsure of the actual number of victims whisked away.
According to him, residents reported intense gunshots and panic as the armed men descended on the village.

“At least two people lost their lives while several others were injured including the bride and many wedding guests taken away,” he posted.

“As at this morning, relatives are still struggling to confirm how many were kidnapped.”

The Police Command in Katsina had yet to issue a formal reaction to the incident at the time of filing this report.
