Suspected herders in the early hours of Tuesday launched another deadly raid on Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving at least four people dead with more feared missing.

Residents said that the armed attackers stormed the community shortly after midnight, firing indiscriminately and forcing families to flee into the bush.

Among those reportedly killed in the raid were Hon. Ochi Ayedu, Eje Uzu, Alinko and one Achibi.

Locals said the casualty figure could rise as search efforts continue for residents who fled in panic and have yet to return.

The latest assault is the second in months on the same community, which last year suffered a brutal invasion that claimed about 13 lives, left many injured and displaced, and resulted in the burning of more than 50 homes.

Details of the current attack remained sketchy as of press time, even as authorities were said to be mobilising security reinforcement to the area.
