A farmer in Ekiti State, Ajide Kayode Aaron, has survived an alleged machete attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Iro Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of the state.
Aaron was said to be heading to his farm when he reportedly encountered three herders who confronted him on the path.
He was said to have warned them against returning to his farmland, a move that triggered a violent response.
The farmer was allegedly slapped and chased by the men, who, according to him, vowed that their leader had directed them to attack any farmer found on the land.
During the pursuit, the herders descended on Aaron with a machete, inflicting cuts on his head, arm and knee.
He also claimed the group had repeatedly invaded his farm in the past, destroying livestock and crops without consequence.
A video circulating among residents and farmers captured the aftermath of the attack, heightening anxiety in the community and fueling fears among farmers who now say they are afraid to return to their farmlands
