Security operatives in Kaduna State have killed two suspected bandits and halted a planned attack on Idissu village in the Giwalga area of Bayan Kogi District.

The encounter was revealed by a security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the operation in a post on X on Tuesday.

Makama said police operatives swung into action after receiving intelligence that a terror group led by a notorious bandit kingpin, identified as Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, had ordered residents to pay a levy and was preparing to invade the community over alleged refusal.

He noted that personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, assisted by vigilantes from Idissu, were deployed to foil the operation.

Upon sighting the security team, the armed men reportedly laid ambush and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.

The joint team later overwhelmed the bandits, killing two, while several others fled into the surrounding bushes.

Makama added that two AK-47 rifles and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene.

Security sources said the area has since been secured, while a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspects.

The police authorities have commenced investigation into the incident and reiterated their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at driving bandits, kidnappers and criminal networks out of Kaduna State.
