The Bauchi State Police Command has taken two teenagers into custody for allegedly abusing several minors in the Tilden Fulani community of Toro Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday, noting that the arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by a parent of one of the victims.

According to Habib, the distraught father reported to the Tilden Fulani Divisional Police Headquarters on January 8, alleging that his eight-year-old son had been lured with snacks by a 16-year-old boy who subsequently assaulted him.

Following the report, detectives from the division apprehended the teenager, while the minor was taken to a medical facility for examination.

Preliminary findings, Habib said, revealed that the 16-year-old suspect was allegedly introduced to the act by a 17-year-old acquaintance.

The second suspect was tracked and arrested after being implicated.
Investigators further uncovered that the younger suspect may have abused at least four boys aged between seven and ten years.

“The suspects have made statements admitting involvement,” the police spokesman stated, adding that the case file would be forwarded for prosecution at the end of investigations.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the incident, stressing that the command would not tolerate crimes against children.

He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and safeguard their children from predators.
