Multiple fire outbreaks across Adamawa State between Thursday night and Friday have left a trail of destruction, with a filling station, homes and business outlets consumed.
The most severe incident occurred in Song town where a fuel station caught fire, burning trucks and valuables and spreading to a nearby furniture shop.
Residents told journalists the blaze sparked panic in the area but was eventually contained through frantic efforts by locals who prevented casualties and further spread.
In a separate occurrence, a rented house in Vuniklang, a community on the outskirts of Yola, was gutted, destroying property and leaving significant damage to the building.
Another fire was recorded in Badarawo, Jimeta, within Yola North Local Government Area, where residents recounted that a home went up in flames as night fell on Friday.
Of the three incidents, the Song disaster drew the most public attention, prompting a sympathy visit by the Chairman of Song Local Government, Idris Yahaya.
“This is a difficult period for our people and those whose businesses have been affected,” Yahaya said during his inspection, promising that the council would extend support to the victims.
