Panic has gripped residents of Dorayi Charanchi in Kano State following the killing of a woman and her six children by unidentified assailants.

The victims, identified as 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her children, were reportedly attacked inside their home after the hoodlums forced their way into the residence of her husband, Haruna Bashir.

Spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the tragedy on Friday, noting that the attackers used dangerous weapons during the assault.

Haruna said the incident was reported to the police at about 12:10pm on January 17.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately dispatched a team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Lawal Isah Mani, to secure the crime scene.

The bodies of the mother and children were evacuated to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead.

Haruna said the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of CID, Wada Jarma, has been assigned to head investigations and ensure the killers are tracked down and prosecuted.

The command also extended condolences to the affected family and residents of the community, assuring the public that no effort would be spared in unmasking the perpetrators.
