Tragedy as Lagos probes death of nine-month-old twins

The Lagos State Government has commenced investigations into the death of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who died a day after receiving routine childhood vaccines at a primary health facility.

The incident gained widespread attention after their distraught father, Samuel Alozie known on TikTok as Promise Samuel posted videos showing the babies’ remains in body bags while recounting how they fell ill shortly after being vaccinated.

In a subsequent viral clip on Thursday, Alozie narrated that he took the boys for their routine jabs on December 24, 2025.

According to him, the twins became limp and unusually weak shortly after the injections.

“They couldn’t eat, they couldn’t play or make noise like before.

They were just weak,” he said.
Alozie added that a nurse advised him to give the infants paracetamol if they developed fever.

He said the drug was administered and the babies were bathed in cold water, but their condition worsened.

“They died on Christmas morning. After the injection, they were so weak.

My wife bathed them. They couldn’t talk or eat or play. Then both of them just gave up,” he lamented.

The grieving father insisted the twins were healthy before the vaccines and had consistently received immunisation since birth.

“I don’t understand. How can I lose them like this? Nine months old, and they were fine.

I only took them for immunisation like I always do,” he sobbed.

Alozie further alleged that the nurse on duty that day was not the usual officer who handled the children’s vaccination.

He rejected claims reportedly made to him that “food bacteria” might have caused their deaths.

“How can food I’ve been giving them since one month old kill them now?” he queried.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Ibrahim Mustafa, told Saturday PUNCH that authorities had launched a probe and ordered a postmortem.

“We sympathise with the parents. Investigations are ongoing — both by the state and the police.

The postmortem will guide us. This same vaccine has been administered to many children before and after without any adverse report,” Mustafa said.

He confirmed that the twins’ bodies had been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital mortuary, assuring that the state would disclose its findings once available.

“Once the postmortem report is out, the public will be informed appropriately,” he stated.

However, Alozie expressed fears that the outcome could be influenced to absolve the state-run facility.

“Please, if you’re a lawyer, help me. I don’t have money for this fight. I need justice for my children,” he pleaded.
