The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has assured the people of Akungba in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state of government’s continued commitment to infrastructure development, security and educational advancement in their community.
The Governor, while playing host to the Alale of Akungba, HRM Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu JP, congratulated the people of Akungba and the entire Akoko South-West Local Government for their unity and cooperation with government, acknowledging their appreciation of ongoing projects in the area.
He noted that the achievements recorded so far in Akungba, particularly in infrastructure and security, represent only part of the government’s plans, stressing that more interventions would be pursued as resources permit.
“What we have done is not all that we can do. As long as we remain in office, we will continue to look for other areas where we can support your community and local government”.
Addressing specific requests raised by the community, the Governor acknowledged the importance of the dualisation of the Akungba – Ikare Road, describing it as critical to boosting economic activities and reducing road accidents along the corridor.
He also referenced the relocation of the Atiba Market following previous road accidents, noting that the exercise was carried out with community support.
He assured the people that contractors had been engaged to fast-track ongoing projects to ensure timely completion.
On funding for state-owned tertiary institutions, including the university within the area, the Governor explained that demands for increased funding were widespread across institutions and ministries due to limited resources.
He reaffirmed the state’s strong commitment to education. “We take pride in education in this state. Ondo State is known for its educational heritage, and we will continue to support our institutions to provide quality education for our citizens,”
The Governor added that efforts to block leakages and improve revenue generation would enable the government to do more with existing resources.
Appreciating the community’s political support, the Governor pledged to govern inclusively, noting that the administration remains committed to delivering dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.
Earlier, the Alale of Akungba, HRM Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu JP, lauded the governor for his administration’s impactful interventions in the community, including the Akungba–Ikare road, Okusa Basic Health Centre, and Atiba Market.
The monarch also called for greater inclusion of qualified sons and daughters of Akungba in state civil service positions and urged enhanced funding and oversight for Adekunle Ajasin University to complement the introduction of new professional courses.
Oba Oseni Adu expressed appreciation to the governor for providing modern vehicles to traditional rulers across the state, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of government’s support for local leadership.
