An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, ordered the remand of two men, Victor Christian and Success Samuel, over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Christian, 43, and Samuel, 29, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, membership of a proscribed confraternity and illegal possession of firearms, preferred against them by the police.

The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants, alongside others still at large, allegedly committed the offences on October 4, 2025, at about 10:05pm in the Nebanu area of Ishashi, Lagos State.

Ikhayere alleged that the duo belonged to the Aiye confraternity, described by the police as an unlawful society proscribed under the law.

She further told the court that the defendants were allegedly found with two semi-automatic pump-action guns, one locally made single-barrel gun and 52 rounds of live ammunition, without lawful authority from the Inspector-General of Police.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 41, 332(1)(d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The pleas of the defendants were not taken.

The Magistrate, L.A. Owolabi, ordered that the suspects be remanded in a correctional facility pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court, however, admitted them to bail in the sum of N700,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
