Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with local hunters, have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Song Local Government Area of the state.

The command said the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in a remote part of Balma village, Song LGA, following credible intelligence.

In a statement issued in the early hours of Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were identified as Shaibu Mohammadu, 30, and Ja’o Bawa, 31.

Nguroje said the arrest was carried out on January 24.

He added that items recovered from the suspects included one locally fabricated revolver assault rifle, two mobile phones, charms and other incriminating materials, which have been secured as exhibits.

The police spokesman disclosed that preliminary findings linked the suspects to a series of kidnapping incidents in Song and neighbouring communities, noting that their activities had thrown residents into fear.

He stated that the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate currently at large.

Nguroje also quoted the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, as commending the support of the local community, describing the partnership as key to tackling crime in the state.
