The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from N699 per litre to N799 per litre.
The refinery said the adjustment would reflect at the pumps of MRS filling stations, where petrol will now sell at N839 per litre.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, the company explained that the price review followed the end of the festive season, noting that the new rate was aimed at sustaining market stability and affordability.
It said, “With the festive period concluded, PMS prices have been modestly realigned to sustainable levels to support long-term market stability and affordability. Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is N799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at N839 per litre.”
The refinery stated that it previously introduced a temporary price support intervention during the festive period to ease the burden on Nigerians amid increased household spending.
According to the statement, this was the second consecutive festive season the refinery absorbed higher costs in the national interest, citing logistics support in 2024 and a price reduction in 2025 to promote affordability and calm in the market.
It also faulted some filling stations for failing to reflect earlier price reductions at the pump, thereby preventing Nigerians from benefiting from the intervention.
Speaking on supply, the Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the company currently supplies about 50 million litres of PMS daily to the domestic market, adding that evacuation and distribution across the country were running normally.
Bird added that the refinery’s design flexibility allows it to process different crude and intermediate feedstocks, enabling continued petrol supply even during planned maintenance.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted nationwide supply, saying it would continue to shield the Nigerian market from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions.
