The Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Diaspora Matters, Oluyemi Fasipe, has described the groundbreaking of Noreta Farms’ 15-hectare high-tech greenhouse project in Owena-Idanre as a major milestone in the state’s agricultural and economic development drive.

Fasipe said the project, performed by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, underscored the administration’s commitment to positioning Ondo State as a preferred destination for credible local and foreign investors.

According to him, the Aiyedatiwa-led government has consistently demonstrated openness to private sector participation by creating an enabling environment that supports innovation, investment growth and job creation across key sectors of the economy.

He noted that Noreta Farms exemplified the governor’s vision of leveraging technology and private capital to drive food security and sustainable development in the state.

Fasipe explained that the project is a privately funded, technology-driven agribusiness designed to deliver industrial-scale food production through smart and precision-based greenhouse systems.

He said the strategically located farm along the Akure–Ondo Road would deploy climate-controlled, hydroponic greenhouses that allow year-round farming, eliminating the constraints of seasonality and climate uncertainty.

The SSA added that the first phase of the project would feature four hectares of fully automated greenhouses, supported by integrated energy solutions, efficient water management, cold storage and modern packhouse facilities built to meet global food safety standards.

He disclosed that the farm would focus on the production of high-value vegetables such as tomatoes, coloured bell peppers, habanero peppers and cucumbers, while remaining adaptable to market-driven crop demands.

Fasipe said beyond boosting food production, the project would generate employment, promote skills development and strengthen the agricultural value chain by supplying modern markets, hospitality businesses, processors and export buyers.

He added that the initiative sends a strong signal to investors, including those in the diaspora, that Ondo State under Governor Aiyedatiwa is committed to supporting serious investments capable of driving inclusive growth and long-term prosperity.
