No fewer than five persons have been killed, while several others are still missing following an attack by armed bandits on residents of Kyaram community in Bukkuyyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the victims were reportedly returning from Maga Market, triggering panic among residents of surrounding rural communities.

A security analyst, Bakatsine, disclosed the development in a post shared on X on Thursday, confirming the number of casualties and raising concerns over the frequency of attacks in remote areas of the state.

According to the post, the assailants ambushed the travellers along the route, killing at least five people on the spot, while others were unaccounted for as of the time of the report.

Bakatsine noted that search efforts were ongoing to locate the missing persons but warned that fear had continued to spread across neighbouring villages due to the persistent insecurity.

Residents of the area, he added, are demanding urgent action from the authorities to rescue those missing and halt the recurring attacks on rural communities in Zamfara State.
