The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Gafaru Rasaki for allegedly exhuming human remains from a cemetery in the Sagamu area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday in Abeokuta.

According to the police, operatives of the Shakura Police Division apprehended the suspect on January 21, 2026, after he was found in possession of four human heads under suspicious circumstances.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly dug up the remains from a cemetery without lawful authority, an act the command described as a grave violation of the law and a clear case of disrespect for the dead.

The police spokesperson added that the recovered exhibits had been secured, while investigations were concluded before the suspect was charged to court.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting public safety and enforcing the law, warning that acts involving the desecration of human remains would not be tolerated.

The Ogun State Police Command urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies to aid crime prevention efforts across the state.
