The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued two victims of abduction and arrested a suspected kidnapper in separate operations across the state, reinforcing its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The first rescue was carried out on February 3, 2026, around 3:10 pm, when operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad saved a man, identified as David O., who was reportedly abducted in the Tudun Amba area of Lafia.

Police sources disclosed that the victim had boarded a commercial motorcycle from Lafia to Assakio when the rider allegedly veered off the main road into a bush path at Kireyi village and forced him into the forest.

Acting on credible intelligence, patrol teams swiftly combed the area and located the victim in the bush.

The suspect, however, escaped moments before the operatives arrived.

The victim told investigators that he had been taken to a kidnappers’ hideout and managed to break free shortly before the police team reached the location.

In a related operation, officers attached to the Gitata Division arrested one Jamilu Salisu, said to be from Ditsenma in Katsina State, for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 pupil of UBE Gitata.

Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly seized the student near a mosque in Gitata and led him into a nearby forest.

Police said the arrest followed a tip-off from a good Samaritan who sighted the suspect heading towards a riverbank with the minor.

Officers were immediately mobilised to the area, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the student.

An accomplice was said to have escaped and remains at large.

Confirming the incidents, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had ordered a thorough investigation into the cases and directed an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect.

Nansel commended residents for their timely information, which aided the operations, and urged continued cooperation with security agencies to stem criminal activities across Nasarawa State.
