The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday announced the timetable and schedule for the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja, dismissing earlier media reports that claimed the electoral body had already released the election timetable.

Amupitan clarified that the commission’s decision to unveil the schedule was in strict compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act, 2022, as amended.

According to him, the presidential election will be conducted on February 20, 2027.

He added that governorship, National Assembly and other elections are slated for March 6, 2027.

The INEC boss assured stakeholders of the commission’s commitment to delivering credible, transparent and peaceful polls across the country.
