The Zone 2 Police Command on Thursday paraded four suspected members of an alleged interstate robbery syndicate accused of carrying out high-profile burglaries in Lagos, with recovered items said to be worth over N3bn.

The suspects were identified as Francis Fidelis, 34; Hassan Atahiru, 30; Ikpi Johnson Ibiang; and Aishatu Seni Ali.

Police authorities alleged that the group was spearheaded by Fidelis, said to be based in Port Harcourt, who reportedly coordinated operations across different states.

mmand disclosed that the investigation began following a petition dated February 4, 2026, submitted by the Parkview Residents Association, Ikoyi, to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2. The residents had complained of persistent burglaries within the estate, with several homes allegedly looted.

According to the police, similar complaints were received from other upscale neighbourhoods, The coprompting the transfer of the case to the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit for discreet investigation.

Acting on intelligence, operatives tracked the suspects to a short-let apartment, George Residence, located on Femi-Pedro Street, Parkview Estate. Fidelis and other members of the alleged gang were arrested on February 6, 2026, in an operation that reportedly extended into the early hours of the following day.

Police said vehicles, jewellery and other valuables estimated at over N3bn were recovered during the raid.

Investigators alleged that Fidelis moved to Lagos last year and strategically rented short-term apartments in gated, highbrow communities to gain access to targeted estates.

He was said to have executed the robberies disguised in hooded outfits and face masks, allegedly armed during the operations.

The police further claimed that Fidelis confessed to multiple burglaries in Parkview Estate, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1 and other parts of Lagos Island.

His alleged confession reportedly led to the arrest of Atahiru, described by the police as a receiver of stolen property.

Atahiru was said to have admitted purchasing gold and diamond jewellery, gold bars and luxury wristwatches from Fidelis after meeting him in Lagos in 2024.

He allegedly told investigators that some of the valuables were transported to Cotonou, Benin Republic, through his brother to avoid detection, while part of the proceeds was used to acquire a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE valued at about N74m for Fidelis.

Items recovered by the police included a dark grey, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLE with chassis number 4JGED6EB7JA094974, a Lexus RX 350 with registration number AB451KR, a plastic pistol, five crowbars, pliers, screwdrivers, a kitchen knife, an adjustable spanner, face masks, hooded clothing and gloves.

Also recovered were seven mobile phones, four iPads, assorted jewellery comprising earrings, wristwatches, rings, necklaces and bracelets, as well as two multi-compartment backpacks.

Speaking during the parade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Adamu Bello Mohammed, who represented the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, said investigations were ongoing.

He added that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate and recover more stolen property, noting that the suspects would be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.
