A trending video has shown the moment an ambulance allegedly knocked down an individual during the 11th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon held in Lagos on Saturday.
The clip, which surfaced on X, captured participants running along one of the designated routes when an ambulance drove up from behind and appeared to strike a person on the course.
The footage was posted by a user identified as #Mrolaoluwa, who expressed concern over the victim’s safety.
“I hope that guy the ambulance just hit at the Lagos City Marathon now is safe,” the user wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation from the organisers or relevant authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The identity of the victim and the extent of any injuries sustained could not be immediately verified.
It also remained unclear whether the individual involved was a registered runner or a spectator.
The annual marathon, sponsored by Access Bank, commenced earlier in the day, attracting elite athletes and recreational runners who traversed major roads across Lagos.
