The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raised an alert to Nigerians following the discovery of illicit drugs concealed in children’s toys and cassava granules, popularly called garri.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, said the seizure underscores the increasingly cunning methods traffickers use to move illegal substances.

According to Babafemi, operatives recently intercepted consignments of methamphetamine hidden inside Hollandia yoghurt packs and MP3 players.

Sharing videos of the seizures, he wrote, “Narco-trends: FYI, children’s toys and our popular cassava granules (garri) are not spared in their desperation to conceal and traffic illicit substances. Please beware and take a look at how NDLEA officers discovered this.”

The NDLEA urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious items to authorities to curb the spread of narcotics through unconventional means.
