The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has commenced efforts to establish contact with a young woman who alleged in a viral TikTok video that she was sexually assaulted by a neighbour in her residence.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the agency said it had taken note of widespread public reactions and multiple tags drawing its attention to the video circulating on social media.

According to the agency, its officials have begun reaching out to the woman through available communication channels to provide urgent assistance and determine her location for appropriate intervention.

“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page,” the statement read.

It added that efforts were ongoing to connect directly with the survivor to ensure she receives necessary support and protection.

In the emotional video posted on Monday, the woman tearfully recounted her ordeal, expressing distress over the incident and its impact on her mental wellbeing. She indicated that she had been taken to a hospital by a friend following the incident.

While not disclosing specific details, the agency reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance policy on domestic and sexual violence, stressing that survivors are entitled to care, protection and justice.

The DSVA also urged members of the public with useful information that could facilitate direct contact with the woman to reach out through its official social media platforms and helplines.

It assured residents that all reports of abuse are treated with confidentiality and urgency, adding that further updates would be provided as outreach efforts and necessary actions progress.
