The University of Abuja has called on members of the public to assist in locating a female undergraduate who has been declared missing.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr Habib Yakoob, the institution identified the student as Sadiya Usman, a 100-level student in the Department of Accounting.
According to the statement, Usman was reported missing after she left her residence at Kontagora Estate, Gwagwalada, at about 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2026.
She was said to be heading to the university’s Main Campus to sit for her Computer-Based Test examination, GST 111, but has not been seen since.
The university disclosed that a report from her guardian indicated that all attempts to reach her had proved abortive, as her mobile phone remained switched off and her whereabouts could not be ascertained.
The management said it had activated its internal safety procedures and was collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure urgent steps were taken to trace the student and guarantee her safe return.
Expressing deep concern over the development, the institution appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could aid efforts to find her.
It urged anyone who might have seen the student or has credible information about her location to report to the nearest police station or contact the Directorate of Safety of the university.
The university reiterated its commitment to the welfare and security of its students, assuring that updates would be communicated as investigations progress.
