A power tussle erupted on Monday between two prominent figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief John Oyegun and Senator Roland Owie, over who holds the authority to convene the party’s caucus in Edo State.
The confrontation reportedly came to a head when Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), barred Owie and his supporters from attending a caucus meeting at Oyegun’s GRA residence.
Sources said Owie and his loyalists arrived at the venue in protest but were stopped at the gate, with suspected thugs allegedly preventing their entry.
Law enforcement officers have been deployed to the residence to maintain peace, as tensions remain high.
Efforts to reach the party leaders for comments were unsuccessful at press time.
