The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered motorcycles allegedly used for criminal operations in the state.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were apprehended on February 11, 2026, following what the police described as credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
According to the command, Sindiku was arrested in Sabo Sango area along Ado Road, while Okoh was picked up in Ilado Community.
The police disclosed that the arrests were linked to an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case within the state, noting that the suspects are currently assisting investigators with useful information.
Preliminary findings, the command said, indicated that the duo belonged to a kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.
Investigators alleged that the suspects used motorcycles for surveillance and reconnaissance, gathering intelligence on potential targets and providing logistics support, including the supply of food and other items, to members of the gang.
The motorcycles and other tools reportedly used to facilitate their activities were recovered during the operation.
Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, commended officers of the command for the breakthrough and reaffirmed the commitment of the force to rid the state of kidnapping and other violent crimes.
Lawal also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for what he described as strategic policing reforms aimed at strengthening intelligence sharing and operational efficiency across commands nationwide.
He assured residents that the command would sustain its proactive approach to safeguarding lives and property across the state, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
