The Bayelsa State Police Command has declared a 36-year-old man, Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, wanted in connection with the alleged conspiracy and murder of 24-year-old Patrick Peresuodei in the Amassoma/Yenagoa axis of the state.
Peresuodei’s death in January 2026 triggered protests in parts of the state, amid allegations of torture and extrajudicial actions involving security operatives and a local influencer.
The controversy surrounding the incident prompted the Bayelsa State Government to order an investigation, leading to the arrest of some personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The state Commissioner of Police, Iyamah Edebor, announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday, disclosing that a warrant of arrest had been obtained against the suspect.
According to him, the warrant was issued by the High Court of Bayelsa State following investigations into the alleged killing.
The statement read in part, “Bodmas Prince Kemepadei (male) is hereby declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command, in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and murder of Patrick Peresuodei. The offence was committed at Amassoma/Yenagoa.
“A warrant of arrest has been issued against him by the High Court of Bayelsa State of Nigeria.”
Police described the suspect as an Ijaw man with a dark complexion, round face and chin, small mouth, thin lips, small head and low forehead.
His last known address was given as ICCH Centre, Tenacious Street, Ede-Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The command urged members of the public with useful information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the Office of the Commissioner of Police at the state headquarters in Yenagoa.
