The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six worshippers from a Celestial Church located along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Uso, Ondo State.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at about 12:50 a.m., when unidentified gunmen reportedly stormed the church premises and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.

Confirming the development, the police disclosed that the command responded promptly after receiving a distress call.

It added that its operatives, working in synergy with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation.

According to the command, one of the abducted worshippers has since been rescued through the joint efforts of the security agencies.

The police further revealed that a suspect connected to the attack has been apprehended and is currently in custody.

It noted that the arrested suspect has provided valuable information to investigators, which is aiding ongoing efforts to track down the remaining perpetrators.

The command assured residents that security operations are still underway to secure the safe release of the other victims and bring all those involved in the crime to justice.
