Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested three suspected logistics suppliers to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province along the Magumeri–Gubio Road in Borno State.
Military sources said the suspects were apprehended on Monday at about 8:30am when operatives of the Joint Task Force North East intercepted a Toyota pick-up truck during a routine operation.
Items recovered from the vehicle included large quantities of textile materials believed to be used by insurgents for producing uniforms.
Security sources noted that members of Boko Haram and ISWAP often wear coordinated outfits during attacks to distinguish themselves during operations.
A senior military officer, who was not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed the development on Tuesday, describing the arrest as a significant breakthrough in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East.
According to the officer, troops also found 20 Hilux tyre tubes, motorcycle and bicycle spare parts, several cutlasses, tyres and other materials suspected to be meant for terrorist use.
He added that three mobile phones were discovered concealed under planks inside the vehicle.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to determine their level of involvement and possible links to insurgent groups operating in the region.
